Here are a few tips to help make your business changes a roaring success in 2013.

1. Plan your Work and Work your Plan!:

Before you start on any changes, you need to formulate a plan of action. Plans help you to focus on what needs to be done, and to break these journeys up into manageable steps. Visualise what your end goal is, and work your way backwards. Make sure you write down your steps and ensure you are happy they are achievable.

2. Fix your surroundings:

To start bringing your change to fruition and making other people react positively to your plan you need to ensure that your surroundings support you. This could mean anything from tidying up your desk, to moving into a separate office. If your plan is to stop meddling in your businesses day-to-day affairs then maybe you should consider being out of the office more. Work from home or invest more time on client meetings or courses. This helps other people to change with you while giving them and you the room you need.

3. Understand your problem:

If you have something you need to change, then it is fair to say that you have a problem. The best advice can come from people who are not directly linked to your business. Seek out help in the internet, talk to other business leaders. Perhaps there is a business forum or community you can join. Do you have a trusted business advisor or accountant who can help your business grow and achieve?

4. Chart your success:

As the change starts to develop, make sure you stand back and observe the success. Are things happening as you had hoped? Are you still ‘Working your Plan?’. Take the time to make sure you are still on the path you had set out for yourself.
