Get active in a focused way – Award Winning Accountant

Hi. I’m here at the Buddhist Temple in Chiang Mai and I read a really good inscription on one of the boards here. One of the sayings here in one of the placards along this Buddhist Temple was, “You’re long time inactive when you’re dead. So it’s time to get on some action.”

Well,  in  some  ways,  I  don’t  think  that’s  our  challenge  because  I  think  we  are  really  too  busy, aren’t we? There’s always something to do. There’s always too much to do and I don’t know if you  are  somewhat  like  me  that  you  could  easily  get  overwhelmed  with  the  number  of opportunities and activities that you have to do to move your business forward.

So I think our challenge is to be active in a focused way, to be challenged, to be active in a way that moves our business forward, but on doing one or two or three things. That is why our Profit Multiplier Program focuses on one or two projects a quarter, maybe three projects a quarter. We would focus on one a month, make sure it gets done and each one has the potential and promise of  increasing  sales,  increasing  margins,  increasing  cash  flow.  So  how  does that  fit  in  with  how you run your business? Do you focus on one or two key things every week, every month to make sure  it gets done to move  your business  forward or are  you  like  many of the  businesses I  meet, constantly chasing after a hundred different things and wondering why profits don’t improve?

It is a difficult time out here and we are in challenging times and I think we need to do something slightly  different  if  you’re  not  getting  the  results  from  doing  what  you’ve  got.  Hopefully  that gives you a bit of food for thought. Think about what he said. It’s time to get active but time to get active in a focused way. I think that’s what the Buddhism message would have been to us in the UK and the Western world today. I look around and everyone in one their mobile phones, on Facebook,  on  Pinterest  and  hundreds  of  different  media  activities  and  I  see  them  at  the  dinner table here. I see them having their  massage on their mobile phone. There seems to be no escape from activity.
